Holocaust Memorial Day Service

27 January 2017 @ 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

From the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (www.hmd.org.uk):

Holocaust Memorial Day takes place on 27 January each year. It’s a time for everyone to pause to remember the millions of people who have been murdered or whose lives have been changed beyond recognition during the HolocaustNazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. [and other locations].  On HMD we can honour the survivors of these regimes and challenge ourselves to use the lessons of their experience to inform our lives today. 27 January marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.

This Service at the Norwich Cathedral, Cathedral Close, is coordinated by CCJ (Council for Christians and Jews) on behalf of Norfolk County Council.  Norwich Liberal Jewish Community and Norwich Hebrew Congregation are involved in this service with CCJ.

As noted above, we will remember those who died in the Holocaust (Shoah), and also those who, we are horrified to say, died in more recent genocides. Let us remember and also act to help prevent such events in the future.
