Holocaust Memorial Day Service

26 January 2018 @ 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Holocaust Memorial Day is a time for everyone to remember the millions upon millions of people who have been murdered or whose lives have been changed beyond recognition during the HolocaustNazi Persecution as well as subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. and other locations.  We can also honour and listen to survivors of these regimes challenging ourselves to use the lessons of their experiences to inform how we act in our lives today.  Holocaust Memorial Day marks the liberation of Auchwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.

This Service at the Norwich Cathedral, Cathedral Close, is coordinated by CCJ (Council for Christians and Jews) on behalf of Norfolk County Council.  Norwich Liberal Jewish Community and Norwich Hebrew Congregation are involved in this service with CCJ. Rabbi Leah will be leading prayers for the first time at this service.

As noted above, we will remember those who died in the Holocaust (Shoah), and also those who, we are horrified to say, have died in more recent genocides. Let us remember and also take action to help prevent such events in the future.
