Sukkot

October 19 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm

10:30am to 11:30am: decorating the Sukkah

11:30am: Sukkot Service

This year we are holding a special Sukkot service to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Norwich Liberal Jewish Community. We are inviting people from different faith groups and from none, as well as old friends, to share in the festivities with us. It’s an open service to showcase our community and give people an opportunity to see how Liberal Jews celebrate the harvest.

We will erect our Sukkah outside the Old Meeting House and Rabbi Gershon will lead the service partly indoors and partly in the Sukkah booth.

You are invited to come early, from 10.30 onwards, to decorate the Sukkah with fruits, twigs and foliage. It’s always good fun putting the fruits in small nets and hanging them from the roof of the Sukkah!

This is a family-friendly service and has many visual effects which resonate powerfully with children. Please bring fruits, twigs, foliage and fruit nets with you. The more the merrier!

The service will be followed by Kiddush and an opportunity to sample some of the fruits from the Sukkah. It’s also an opportunity to talk to visitors from different faith groups and to share common ground.

We look forward to welcoming you.
