One of our members\, Stephen Haire\, has been fundraising for this charity. Its mission is to help isolated Jewish communities in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe learn skills for self-development. \nThe Together Plan https://thetogetherplan.com has just become a member of the European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Heritage https://www.jewisheritage.org and is now building a Jewish Route through Belarus. \nWe have extended this invitation to members of the Norwich Hebrew Congregation. DESCRIPTION:Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg is the Senior Rabbi of Masorti Judaism UK. He is a leading writer and thinker on Judaism. He is rabbi of New North London Synagogue with approximately 2\,400 members. He is also a member of the Elijah Interfaith Institute. He has published several books on widely diverse subjects\, all of which\, together with his blog\, can be found on his website. \nFor our Martin Buber Lecture\, his starting point will be his latest book\, “Things My Dog taught me\, and then broaden his talk to include his other interests and those of his audience. So please come along and ask him whatever you like! \n‘There’s a special art to doing just one thing\, at one time\, with the whole of one’s self. To appreciate what that looks like\, all one has to do is watch a dog staring at a biscuit. DESCRIPTION:Come along to our Channukah Fayre at the Forum in Norwich; an enjoyable event  You can taste of some  freshly made Jewish ‘finger’ food.  We’ll have our excellent Tombola\, with a young people’s table as well as one for adults.  Quality CDs DVDs and books are on offer and a good variety of crafts.\n\nNorwich Liberal Jewish Community will also have a display with information of aspects of Liberal Judaism and the Norwich Liberal Jewish Community from people at our tables. There will be a photo display\, leaflets and an apples and honey table.  You can taste the apples and honey and hear about Rosh Hashanah  (Jewish New Year) and purchase newly pressed local apple juice. Children can participate in an activity about Channukah.

DESCRIPTION:This event is a brilliant fundraiser for Norwich Liberal Jewish Community and the charities we support. The\nFayre also offers the opportunity for local people to get acquainted with our community\,\nthe Jewish faith and the social action projects we are involved in. The comfortable\natmosphere and the appealing stalls allow people to ask questions about Judaism and we also\nintroduce ourselves to some Jews who didn’t know about NLJC and our active community. \nThere will be the luscious food stand\, the ever popular Tombola\, CD\, DVD and Book Stand once more.\nOur Arts & Craft stand will be expanded with fantastic cards by Adam and Stuart\,\npaintings\, jewellery and knitted items\, naturally perfumed soaps\, hand made cushions and\npainted mugs should all attract interest.  This year there will also be a Pre-Loved & New For You stall.  Our brilliant\nActivity Stand  for children will\, of course\,  be innovative and interesting. \nWe will also again have a Jewish stand with information about Judaism and the charities we support. There will also be Channukah items. \nWe look forward to seeing you there.

SUMMARY:Mitzvah Day - Tikkun Olam
DESCRIPTION:Many Jewish Communities have 1 Mitzvah day a year – we do at least 3!  For the natural world\, for our own community and with CCJ for social action.  This is our first one of the year – literally repairing the world – the natural world.  We’ve helped at Pensthorpe Natural Park several times. They’re always very grateful and generous. \nAs usual\, we will help for a couple of hours in the morning\, have lunch  together in the Courtyard Cafe and then you may spend the rest of the day looking around lovely\, interesting Pensthorpe.  There’s something for everyone. Although we’re doing outdoor work\, there are levels from easy to strenuous.  Please wear sturdy shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting grubby. Gloves & tools are provided. There’s a great area for young people.  Have a look at the website www.pensthorpe.com \nPlease do come along. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our Hanukah party\, when we will be lighting the candles\, so please bring you chanukiah and 3 candles. We will say the blessings and sing some Chanukah songs.  We hope the young people who have learned about Hannukah will inform the grown ups and perhaps teach them something.  What does Chanukkah mean to you? There will be crafts and games and maybe even some chanukah gelt. \nWe will have a chavurah meal catered by our members who are organising this.  We do look forward to see you there. \nOur Chanukah party will begin a 6:00 p.m. to accommodate young people who have to go do school the next day.
