SUMMARY:Tu b'shevat
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on this Jewish holiday the New Year for Trees. It’s one of 4\, yes 4\, Jewish new years. \nIt’s often seen as an ecological awareness day. It was relevant then & is particulrly important now\, and has been celebrated worldwide for many hundreds of years. \nPlease contact Venetia if you wish to join us via Online Contact Form \n

DESCRIPTION:For many years\, we have held Engaging with Judaism sessions on a Friday evening in a member’s home rather than hold Friday evening services. There was a time\, many years ago\, when we used to alternate holding Friday evening and Saturday morning services. \nIt has been decided to occasionally try holding services again on a Friday evening at the Old Meeting House. Closer to the date\, it will be confirmed if a Kabbalat Shabbat service will be held or an Engaging with Judaism session instead. \nAnnouncements will be made in good time so everyone knows if a Kabbalat Shabbat service will be held on a particular Friday. This webpage will be updated and it is anticipated that an email will be circulated to all members and friends.

SUMMARY:Sukkot
DESCRIPTION:10:30am to 11:30am: decorating the Sukkah \n11:30am: Sukkot Service \nThis year we are holding a special Sukkot service to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Norwich Liberal Jewish Community. We are inviting people from different faith groups and from none\, as well as old friends\, to share in the festivities with us. It’s an open service to showcase our community and give people an opportunity to see how Liberal Jews celebrate the harvest. \nWe will erect our Sukkah outside the Old Meeting House and Rabbi Gershon will lead the service partly indoors and partly in the Sukkah booth. \nYou are invited to come early\, from 10.30 onwards\, to decorate the Sukkah with fruits\, twigs and foliage. It’s always good fun putting the fruits in small nets and hanging them from the roof of the Sukkah! \nThis is a family-friendly service and has many visual effects which resonate powerfully with children. Please bring fruits\, twigs\, foliage and fruit nets with you. The more the merrier! \nThe service will be followed by Kiddush and an opportunity to sample some of the fruits from the Sukkah. It’s also an opportunity to talk to visitors from different faith groups and to share common ground. \nWe look forward to welcoming you. \nRSVP to enquiries@norwichljc.org.uk by 27th September 2019
