Engaging with Judaism

12 February 2016 @ 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Please join us with Rabbi Leah Jordan for Engaging with Judaism.  This is on the Friday evening before our morning Shabbat Service.  It’s an interesting learning get together on a Jewish topic.  Please let us know if there’s anything you want to learn about or are interested in discussing. The discussion is informal and you can ask questions.  There’s always something to talk about!

Topic:  Jerusalem – PHYSICAL REALITY A DIVINE IDEAL  ‘Jerusalem’, is a word and a concept, that appears often in our Jewish literature. Together let us follow a strand of that philosophical conversation, from Talmud Bava Kamma to 20th century Jewish thinkers Rav Kook and Emmanuel Levinas. What is ‘Jerusalem’ in our tradition? An actual space? An ethical imperative? And what might that mean for us?

We welcome you to come along; please contact Annie or another Council member (via website contacts) if you want to do so.
