There are 4 new years in the Jewish calendar.  This is the new year of trees. After our service we will have a light bring and share chavurah meal, which will move on to our Tu B'Shevat Seder, where we will feast on many different fruits.  We can learn about the new year of trees, the history of this festival and how it has changed over the years. Please join us at our Purim shpiel and party! We will hear the story of Ester and celebrate - the importance of living in a tolerant multi-faith multi-ethnic society.  We'll also have a chavurah meal and don't forget the hamantaschen!  Also, don't forget to bring your groggers (noise makers), masks and funny clothes and hats!!

We are again holding our Passover Seder at the lovely Mangreen Trust. Please join Rabbi Leah Jordan as she leads our annual Community Seder. Pre-booking is essential as space is limited.  There is always a cost per person for the venue & our charities, which are New Routes Integration and Yachad. NLJC is happy to be bringing the Tikkun (repairing) concept to Norwich again.  Shavuot is a festival which is 40 days from the end of Pesach (evening ). It is a harvest festival, but more importantly commemorates the giving of the Torah to the Jews. Please join us with Emily DeVoto, Rabbi Roderick Young and Marsha Parker. Selichot prayers of repentance mark thoughts for the beginning the High Holy Days.  We will have an evening of thoughtful, supportive spiritual preparation for the High Holy Days.  We can all benefit from this Selichot observance and reflective discussion. We will be again having our superb celebration of Sukkot with people of different faiths and ethnicities - with a service & outside celebration of this harvest festival. We will erect our Sukkah outside the Old Meeting House and Rabbi Leah will lead the service from inside the Sukkah. It's great to welcome LJ Youth workers up to Norwich again,this time, to lead a Tu B'Shevat, New Year of Trees, Seder.  It falls on the 15th of Shevat; Tu means 15, though ours will be a week later due to circumstances beyond our control.  It was originally a date to age trees for a tithe (or tax) of first fruits at the Temple.  It has evolved  over the centuries and we can learn about the new year of trees,…
