Commemoration of end of WW2 – CCJ

Heritage Open Day (HEART)
Heritage Open Days take place nationally annually. There are very many interesting places to see in Norwich and Norfolk. The Open Day showcasing Jews of Norwich, which jointly involves the Norwich Hebrew Congregation and Norwich Liberal Jewish Community is taking place at the Norwich Synagogue, Earlham Road. There will be an exhibition and talks about Judaism and our history. Refreshments are provided. Please contact Sarah via the contacts page for more information.

Remembrance
This Sunday we will join together with members of the Norwich Hebrew Congregation at the Jewish Cemetery, Bowthorpe Road, NR2 3TD. This will be to remember those Jews buried there who were in the forces and also killed in wars. There will be a short service and we will recite the Kaddish.

Mitzvah Day as it is now, was initiated in the UK in 2015. It is important for everyone to remember the holocaust and other genocides, as well as act to help prevent further such events. This Service is coordinated by CCJ (Council for Christians and Jews) on behalf of the Council. Norwich Liberal Jewish Community and Norwich Hebrew Congregation are involved in this service with CCJ. Please join Norfolk County Council for a viewing of the film ‘Learning from the past’ This moving and poignant film introduces Holocaust Memorial Day and explains why we commemorate the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution, and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. The film will be introduced by Norfolk County Council’s Chairman Rex Parkinson- Hare and followed by a 3 minute silence and a reading by students from Framlingham Earl High School.

Joan Goodman Lecture
The Joan Goodman Lecture is an excellent event jointly coordinated by ourselves & Norwich Hebrew Congregation.
