The Shabbat service on July 13 had more than its usual joyous feel as the community enjoyed two celebrations.
Philip Lawrence revisited his Barmitzvah portion and also delivered the sermon, thankfully without wearing his shorts and school cap:
And we were delighted to join Cantor Gershon Silins as he celebrated his ordination as a Rabbi. The occasion was marked by a suitably respectful gift:
We were also delighted that Gershon was joined by the beautiful voice of Lily Whear to lead the singing:
All in all a very special service for us to remember.
